The 3-alarm fire at Nox Crete Chemical is now extinguished. We were dispatched to the incident on Monday, May 30, 2022 at 1853 hours and our crews remained on site for nearly 26 hours through yesterday evening.
We would like to extend a special thank you to our crews for their dedication to protecting and serving our community. This was a very difficult and dangerous fire scene and we are proud of them for the tremendous work they displayed throughout the entire incident. They worked tirelessly in extreme conditions to bring the fire and hazmat concerns under control, all while simultaneously assisting the neighboring community and collaborating with our partnering agencies. Their comprehensive skills, operational decisions, and exceptional teamwork directly contributed to the successful mitigation of this scene without injuries or casualties.
Thank you to our partnering agencies for their work throughout this emergency scene including the Omaha Police Department, Douglas County Emergency Management Agency (including our Douglas County 911 Dispatchers), Nebraska State Patrol, Douglas County Health Department, Omaha Public Power District, Metropolitan Utilities District, City of Omaha Public Works Department, American Red Cross Serving Nebraska and Southwest Iowa, The Salvation Army of Omaha, Rapid Relief Team US, Union Pacific Railroad, Burlington Northern Railroads, and the City of Omaha Parks & Recreation Columbus Park Community Center.
