Two years ago, UNO leadership established the Office of Health Security (OHS) to promote and protect the health and safety of students, faculty, and staff on issues related to COVID-19.
Now, based on the availability of community resources to fight COVID-19, OHS will officially close effective Thursday, June 30, 2022.
Under the leadership of Jane Meza, Ph.D., and Rachael Jensen, and with the support of the entire campus community, OHS served a vital role in keeping our students, faculty, and staff safe by providing access to vital resources such as contact tracing and testing; regularly updating campus as health guidance was adjusted at the federal and local level; and coordinating with the Douglas County Health Department to offer vaccinations as they became available.
Moving forward, issues of critical health security and safety will once again be managed through our Department of Public Safety's Emergency Management team.
COVID-19 resources for the campus community will continue to be available through the Douglas County Health Department or an individual's local county health department. These include testing, contact tracing, reporting, and vaccines.
