New Semester Guide

Welcome to the beginning of an amazing fall semester and a new academic year!

Whether you are new to UNO or continuing your Maverick journey, we want to make sure that you have the resources and information you need to be successful.

Be sure not to miss UNO Student Convocation on Sunday, Aug. 21, which, along with MavFEST, will kick off the new semester and Durango Days!

Reviewing this guide before the start of classes will help you get off on the right foot, but you can also refer back to this guide at any time during the semester if you are in need of a quick reminder of all the opportunities that are available to you on campus, online, and in our community.

Welcome (Back) to UNO

First, we want to give a big shout out to all those returning to UNO this semester. Welcome back!

For those who are new to the college experience, or the UNO campus, we have some resources to help you find your way around:

  • my.unomaha: A digital resource to help Mavericks navigate some of the most popular and commonly visited pages on our website. A great place to get started.

  • UNO Buildings and Maps: Visit this page to access maps of our Dodge, Scott, and Center campuses as well as learn some history about the buildings you may be spending time in this semester.

  • UNO Parking Permits: If you need a parking permit for the semester, even just for the evenings, we have a variety of options. Questions about parking options? Call 402.554.PARK or visit their office on Scott Campus.

  • Shuttles: Need to get between campuses? Our shuttles have you covered, and you can even plan your route with our UNO Shuttle Tracker.

  • Other Transportation Options: Want to explore the many other ways you can get to-and-from campus? Explore this resource page featuring options such as no-cost bus fare and B-Cycle rentals.

  • On-Campus Food Options: As we enter the 2022-23 academic year, our on-campus food service options will be regularly be adjusted as supplies and staffing resouces allow. We appreciate the campus' flexibility and understanding during this time. Please regularly check our Food Services website for updates and special offerings.

  • Off-Campus Excitement: When we say “Omaha is our Campus” we mean it. Even if you’re a long-time resident, we bet there are parts of our city that you haven’t yet explored. Learn just how close you are to new experiences when UNO is at the “Center of it All.”

Taking Care of Yourself and Others

We take the health and wellness of our campus community seriously. While there are no campus restrictions currently in relation to COVID-19 or Monkeypox, there are a variety of resources you have available at your disposal both on campus and remotely:

  • COVID-19 Guidance and Resources: A single-source location for any campus and community resources regarding COVID-19.

  • Monkeypox Guidance and Resources: A single-source location for any campus and community resources regarding Monkeypox.

  • Nebraska Medicine UNO Health Center: In-person and virtual consultations for a variety of services including physical exams, immunizations, pregnancy testing, STD management, and more. To schedule an appointment, call 402.554.2374. Learn more about how to use the Health Center this fall.

  • Vaccination Records: If you are a new, transfer, or international student, please make sure to review UNO’s immunization record requirements. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is NOT required for enrollment or class attendance.

  • Campus Recreation: With world-class facilities, staff, and programming, UNO offers a variety of ways to stay physically active and engaged. Explore a variety of flexible, cost-friendly membership options.
Staying emotionally well is just as important as our physical wellness. Don’t hesitate to reach out to these resources if you need support:

  • Counseling and Psychological Services Office (CAPS): CAPS services, including confidential access to licensed counselors, are available in person and online for all enrolled students. Appointments can be made by calling 402.554.2409.

  • UNO Recovery Community: The UNO Recovery Community offers a common, safe space for students in recovery from addiction to socialize, support each other, and build academic success.

  • Campus Support Groups: It’s okay to not be okay and we’re here to listen. UNO has a variety of general and specialized support groups available for our student body. Remember: You are not alone. You are welcome here.
  • Diversity, Equity, Access, and Inclusion

Every member of the UNO campus is a unique individual with diverse perspectives, cultures, experiences, and knowledge to share.
