Exceptional high school singers from Nebraska and Iowa perform during the Wayne State College Music Theater Honor Choir concert at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, in Ley Theatre. Admission is $5 for adults with free admission for children 12 years of age or under. The concert will also be livestreamed. To view the livestream, go to www.wsc.edu/watch-live. The program will be accessible by selecting the event from the Music Events list at www.wsc.edu/music.After meticulous review of more than 300 auditions, only 28 singers were selected for the Music Theater Honor Choir. Throughout the day, WSC Chamber Choir members act as mentors and rehearsal leaders. Singers also interact with Jamey Ray, founder of the a cappella group Voctave. The Voctave concert is set for 7:30 p.m. on the same day in Ramsey Theatre.Directors Dr. Matthew Armstrong and Shelly Armstrong center the day’s learning on celebrated and unique theater music. Concert repertoire includes “Louder than Words” from “tick, tick…BOOM!” by Jonathan Larson; “With One Look” from “Sunset Boulevard,” by Andrew Lloyd Webber; and “Smooth Criminal” inspired by “MJ the Musical” and arranged by Erik Bosio.
