Baseball Drops Home Opener to Kansas State

Playing in the 2023 home opener, the Creighton Baseball team was shut out 3-0 by Kansas State on Wednesday, March 15.
The loss evened Creighton's record at 6-6 on the season, while Kansas State moved to 12-5.
Kansas State jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, getting a solo home run from Cole Johnson.
The Wildcats tacked on two more in the third, getting an two-run triple from Dom Hughes in the third.
Creighton starter Cade Lommel took the loss (0-3), allowing three runs on six hits and two walks in 2.1.
Kansas State starter Mason Buss earned the win (2-0) with five innings of scoreless ball.
Bluejay Dominic Cancellieri was dominant in four innings of shutout relief, striking out nine
Creighton returns to action on Saturday, March 18 as the Bluejays play a shortened series with Wichita State. Originally scheduled as a home series, the contests were moved to Wichita due to inclement weather in the Omaha area. Saturday's game is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
