Rep. Don Bacon has cast a vote in favor of H.R.10545 - the American Relief Act, 2025 (CR), a measure designed to maintain government funding until March 14, 2025, at current spending levels. This bill also allocates additional resources for disaster relief and extends the provisions of the 2018 Farm Bill.
The legislation earmarks $110 billion for disaster relief, with a particular focus on rural communities, including farmers and ranchers who are grappling with economic challenges and the impact of several disasters. Specifically, $10 billion is designated as economic assistance for farmers. The bill passed with significant support in Congress by a vote count of 366-44-1.
In a statement shared on X, Rep. Bacon explained his rationale: "There was no way we could shut the government down and cut discretionary spending because it would've affected two million service members, border patrol agents, air traffic controllers, and many others. We are also providing critical relief to natural disaster victims and farmers. There was no room for a Christmas shutdown."
