The 2022 Step-Up Omaha application is open. The deadline is extended to

Friday, March 18th to allow students to apply during Spring Break.

Application Deadline: Applications for the 2022 summer employment opportunity is open and will close on March 18, 2022. All applicants will receive a response via mail and/or email in March and April. If you need assistance, please call 402-502-3763.

Summer Program: June 6, 2022–August 5, 2022

The Empowerment Network in collaboration with community partners are working to provide opportunities for youth and young adults to gain valuable job training and work experience during the summer and beyond. Collectively we provide jobs, internships, work experience, an introduction to entrepreneurship, intro to trades and STEAM, academic recovery and remediation, life skills training, and community leadership and engagement opportunities. Major funders for Step-Up Omaha! include the City of Omaha and Charles E. Lakin Foundation.

KEY BENEFITS FOR PARTICIPANTS:

Learn more about your strengths, talents and career interests

Acquire and build life, job and teamwork skills

Gain work experiences including interviewing, job search and customer service

Gain valuable on-the-job work experience and explore future career opportunities

Earn up to $2,500 or more this summer and gain valuable educational training

Pay rate for internships range from $10 to $15 or more per hour

PLEASE NOTE: Step-Up Omaha is monitoring the health recommendations from the Douglas County Health Director and other health professionals regarding COVID-19. The team will make a determination regarding which parts of the program will be virtual (remote) and in-person. COVID-19 protocols and health guidance will be followed. Families and applicants will be notified in advance of plans regarding in-person or virtual career exploration, job training, cohorts and internships. We expect the program to be in-person this summer.

Step-Up Omaha! is an initiative of the Empowerment Network in collaboration with the City of Omaha and Charles E. Lakin Foundation. Community partners include: Boys & Girls Club of the Midlands, Heartland Workforce Solutions, Hope Center for Kids, Girls Inc., Metropolitan Community College, Omaha Housing Authority, Omaha Public Schools, PACE Urban League of Nebraska and the United Way of the Midlands.
