Omaha Plays First Road Match at UTRGV

For the first time this season, the Mavericks head out for a match away from Caniglia Field. Omaha will play at UTRGV in Edinburg, Texas on Saturday, Sept. 17. Kickoff between the Mavericks and Vaqueros is set for 6:30 p.m. Both teams look to rebound following losses earlier this week. Omaha fell to Creighton, while UTRGV lost to No. 16 Missouri State.

QUICK KICKS

• The Mavericks beat MVC member Bradley last Friday night. Omaha scored the first two goals in the second half. Mathis Pilon St-Louis netted the game winner earning him his first Offensive Peak Performer of the Week accolade from the Summit League.

• The Mavericks and Drake played to a 2-2 draw earlier this week. Theo Klein tied the match in the 65th minute on Omaha's first penalty kick of the season. St-Louis tied it again in the 86th minute.

• Nathanael Sallah earned his first Defensive Peak Performer of the Week award of the season. Sallah made four saves vs. SDSU earning his first shutout of the year. Sallah made a big penalty kick save in the 2nd minute.

• Omaha picked up another win vs. San Diego State. St-Louis scored in the 82nd minute to clinch the win.

• The Mavericks tallied their first win of the 2022 season and of Coach Donovan Dowling's career. Omaha downed Oakland 3-1 in the second game of the season.

• Kenji Mboma Dem notched a career-high five points. He scored two goals and assisted on the game winner scored by Mathis Pilon St-Louis. Mboma Dem's five points is a single-game high across the league so far this season.

• Omaha is averaging a league best 2.0 goals per game. The Mavericks have eight score on the season.

• St-Louis is first in the league with four goals scored. He is also at the top of the charts with three game winners this season so far. His three game winners is also tied first in the NCAA.

• St-Louis' 3.60 shots per game is an Omaha and Summit League high. It ranks 12th nationally.

• Tied games will result in a draw following regulation. Overtime will not be played in the regular season.

SCOUTING THE UTRGV VAQUEROS

UTRGV is 1-3-1 heading into the weekend closer. The Vaqueros dropped their last two matches to nationally ranked opponents. No. 16 Missouri State handed them a 2-0 loss while UTRGV suffered a 7-2 setback at SMU. The 2022 season opened with a 3-1 win vs. Bryant and a 1-1 draw vs. Oral Roberts.

VAQUEROS TO WATCH

• Rasmus Steuch is tied as the team leader with three points. He tallied a goal vs. Bryant in the season opener. The freshman defender also has an assist on the game-tying goal vs. Oral Roberts.

• Jason Robles also has three points for the Vaqueros this season. He notched a pair in the season opener vs. Bryant. Robles also tallied an assist at SMU. The junior defender has seven shots this season.

• In goal, Simon Madsen has started every match. He's 1-3-1 on the year with eight total saves. Madsen made a season-high four stops at SMU.

SERIES HISTORY

The Mavericks are 1-0 in the all-time series. The first meeting between the teams was in 2017 when Omaha shutout UTRGV, 1-0.
