"Click It or Ticket" Campaign

Omahapolice

The Omaha Police Department Traffic Unit is taking part in a nationwide "Click It or Ticket" campaign that starts Monday May 23, 2022 through Sunday June 5, 2022. The Nebraska Office of Highway Safety has awarded a mini-grant to fund extra traffic officers on the streets enforcing Nebraska's seatbelt and child restraint laws. Operations will be conducted throughout the city at various times during the campaign.

The goal of the "Click It or Ticket" campaign is to increase the awareness of the State of Nebraska's seatbelt and child restraint laws while increasing the percentage of drivers who comply with these laws.

The Omaha Police Department wants to alert the public that wearing a seatbelt is the best way to reduce your chances of death or serious bodily injury should one be involved in a motor vehicle collision. Of the twenty fatal car crashes that the Omaha Police Department Traffic Unit has investigated in 2022, four had a victim who was not wearing their seatbelt.
