Rep. Don Bacon of Nebraska's 2nd Congressional District has been named one of the top effective legislators for the 118th Congress by the Center for Effective Lawmaking (CEL). The report identifies the top ten legislators from each party, highlighting their effectiveness in lawmaking.

The CEL's analysis states, “Our analysis found that Representative Bacon ranked as one of the most effective Republican House Members in the last Congress. In addition, he ranked as the most effective Representative in terms of having their sponsored standalone bills substantially incorporated into the laws of other members of Congress. We congratulate the Representative for his hard work and setting an example for promoting the importance of effective lawmaking.”

Rep. Bacon, reacting to the recognition, stated, “This report shows we can work on a bipartisan level to get meaningful legislation passed, even if we don’t follow the traditional method of introducing stand-alone bills. My intent is to get good legislation passed and sometimes you give up the grandeur of your name on a bill to get something meaningful done.”

In the Republican Party, Bacon was ranked second for effectiveness, especially noted for his work in defense, Native American issues, banking and commerce, and law, crime, and family issue areas.

The Center for Effective Lawmaking aims to improve the understanding and communication about the effectiveness of lawmakers and legislative institutions in the United States. Their vision includes American legislatures made up of effective lawmakers with strong institutional capacity to address significant public policy challenges.

This recent recognition aligns with findings from GovTrack, which highlighted Bacon as one of the most successful legislators in Congress based on the number of bills passed and signed into law.
