Our office was made aware of a scam that was happening throughout the area. The victim stated that a deputy with the Dodge county Sheriff’s Office called her, and advised that she had missed a witness subpoena, and that she needed to take care of the warrant by paying over the phone.
They then sent her a copy of the warrant and details pertaining to her case. They asked for money and gift cards. They also contacted the victim appearing to use our phone number.
These individuals went to great lengths to try to sound valid, and they had a lot of information about the victim.
The fake warrant is attached to this post to create awareness in the community.
Please remember the Dodge county Sheriff’s Office will never contact you by phone for a warrant, and do not pay anyone over the phone to take care of a warrant.
