Employee Spotlight with Lacy Samek!
Every month we are going to talk about some of our employees that work for the City of Seward. They all do a great job, and we want to make you aware.
Here's a few questions we asked Lacy:
City: What do you do for the City?Lacy: I am the Night Shift Patrol Officer for the Seward Police Department.
City: What made you decide to become a police officer?Lacy: I enjoyed my criminal justice classes in college, and I had an instructor that was a former law enforcement officer. He told me that he thought I would be a great fit in law enforcement. I went on a ride along with a police officer and really enjoyed it.
City: How long have you worked at the Seward Police Department?Lacy: 2 1/2 years.
City: Did you have experience in this area before you came over to the Seward Police Department?Lacy: I started working for the Howard County Sheriff's Office in 2014 as a deputy sheriff. In 2018, I started working for the Central City Police Department as a police officer before I finally joined the Seward Police Department in 2020.
City: What makes your job challenging?Lacy: Working holidays, weekends, and special occasions.
City: What do you like most about your job?Lacy: Being proactive and taking someone to jail who is a threat to the safety of the community.
City: What is a fun fact about you or something you would like to share?Lacy: In 2012, I played rugby for Wayne State College, and my team was the first women's team at Wayne State to win the National Championship.
City: What do you enjoy most about the City of Seward?Lacy: I have really enjoyed attending Hillcrest Evangelical Free Church.
